[Quick Tip] Improve the quality of your posts with this simple Mac feature!
This tip was passed on to me from a friend to help reduce the simple mistakes that can go unnoticed when creating posts for social media or other content for your business. P.S. If you are a Mac lover, you are going to love this! Since being enlightened to this useful tool I have used it everyday to QC my work before posting it for the world to see. It involves using the speech function built in to almost every Mac computer or laptop these days.
Why is this useful?
Some people may ask, “why in the world would I ever need this feature?”, or more specifically, “how will this help me create better quality posts for my fans?” Let’s all put our pride aside and think about this for a moment. The speech feature will read back any text that you have chosen by highlighting and using hot keys you define. This allows for you to get a perspective of how the sentence you created sounds if read out loud. Let’s face it, sometimes when we are re-reading our work we can miss a typo or two and not even know it. Speech will read it as it’s written. By listening to how you have written it you can identify areas that you could improve or even remove to make the sentence more smooth. This will result in better posts for your readers.
How to set up the speech function:
- Make your way into “System Preferences” and slect the speech category.

- Make sure the check box next to ” Speak selected text when the key is pressed.”

- Next, you can choose which key patter you wish to trigger the speech function by clicking “Change Key…”

- Choose the keys you wish to have your Mac read the text you select. I like to use Command+0, which is just dont by holding down the command key and clicking “0″. Choose which ever combination you are most comfortable with, one that you will remember well.

After setting it up try it out highlight the following bolded sentence and using your hot keys to have your Mac read it back:
